Programs

The Volunteer Center's purpose is to increase community involvement and its organizational belief is that increased involvement offers tangible benefits to all participants -- volunteers, agencies, recipients of service, and civic life as a whole. The Center's core program of volunteer referral realizes two key objectives: first, to connect people with opportunities to serve, and second, to build the capacity for effective local volunteering. In addition to volunteer referral services, the Center manages several key initiatives:

• Student Volunteering connects students with opportunities for volunteer service.
• Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) connects adults 55 and older with rewarding volunteer opportunities.
• Holiday Programs showcase ways for community members to help needy families during the holidays.
• The Human Race supports local nonprofit organizations by enabling community members to collect pledges for their agency of choice.
• The Week of Caring places over 2,000 employees in service at local nonprofit organizations.
• Disaster Response ensures a network of volunteers available to assist in a catastrophic event.
