Home Safety for Seniors

Home Safety for Seniors is a new program in which trained student and senior volunteers conduct home safety assessments for low-income seniors. The volunteers then follow up by either installing or delivering safety products. Seniors are provided with items that help minimize their risk for accidents in the home. Products provided to date include light bulbs, bathtub mats, electrical power strips, heater and fans. All items are provided at no charge to the seniors.

The program has a very positive effect on the lives of seniors and the volunteers. The seniors receive much needed support that helps them live more comfortably and safely in their homes. The volunteers have an opportunity to learn about seniors and develop leadership and social skills. Reviews by all the participants in the program have been very positive.

If you are interested in learning more about this program, or would like to volunteer, please call Linda Groobin, Program Director at (925) 472-5771 or e-mail her at lgroobin@helpnow.org.
