Student Volunteering

YAC memberEvery year, thousands of youth help their community through volunteer service. Students clean creeks, serve the hungry, tutor children, and contribute in so many other ways. Click here for opportunities available to youth ages 13-17. For volunteer opportunities for families or youth under 13, go to our search page or contact us at info@helpnow.org or (925) 472-5760.

If you are interested in working on a volunteer team, consider joining the Youth Action Council, a group of high school students who meet and take an active role in their community and give a youth voice to volunteerism. The Council selects, plans, promotes, and participates in volunteer projects (typically 8-10 projects per month) benefiting a variety of nonprofits. Past Youth Action Council projects have included:

  • Sorting food collected from food drives at the Food Bank
  • Serving dinner at a nonprofit fundraising event
  • Making Easter Baskets for low-income children
  • Cleaning a creek

To learn more about the Youth Action Council, please contact Joan Tomasini, Program Director, at jtomasini@helpnow.org or (925) 472-5773.
