The Volunteer Infrastructure Project focuses on nonprofit organizations that serve low-income children and families. We train and regularly coach AmeriCorps members in the best practices of volunteer recruitment and management and place them in nonprofits to improve their volunteer programs. Even as nonprofit budgets shrink, adding volunteer support to these nonprofits enables them to maintain their programs for families and children.
This pilot program runs from July 2009 to June 2010. It is funded by CaliforniaVolunteers, the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act of 2009, and a generous donation from Chevron. The project engages 3 full time AmeriCorps members who are serving in nonprofits in Alameda and Costa County, listed below.
We are currently accepting applications from East Bay nonprofit organizations that want to participate in the 2010/2011 Volunteer Infrastructure Project. Below is the introductory letter and request for proposals. All nonprofit applicants must complete the application online at by 5pm on Wednesday, February 17, 2010.
